Weddings have been taking place since the beginning of mankind. As the concept of nuptials has evolved, so has the method of announcing the big event. The history of the wedding invitation begins prior to the 18th Century and the founding of the printing press. Wedding announcements were made in conjunction with the daily news that was announced by a town crier who roamed old England shouting the news.
